Frequently Asked Questions

Remote Online Notarization allows documents to be notarized electronically using secure video conferencing technology, so that you do not need to meet a notary in person.  Below see answers to commonly asked questions.

FAQ

Remote Online Notary

A Remote Online Notary (RON) is commissioned Notary Public authorized to perform notarization's electronically through secure digital methods and live audio video communication.  As with traditional notarization's, the notary must witness the signing; however remote online notarization allows this to occur online rather than in person.  Documents are signed and notarized digitally using electronic signatures, a digital notary seal, and a secure digital certificate.

Items needed for RON appointments

Please have a valid, unexpired, government issued ID such as a driver's license or US Passport ready to present during the audio video session for identity verification.

Ensure your documents are available in digital format and that you have access to a computer or tablet with a stable internet connection, as well as a functioning camera and microphone.

For best results, join the session from a quiet, well lit  environment so that the notary can clearly see and hear you.

How does RON work

After completing Identity verification and knowledge based authentication, and confirming your appointment time, log in as scheduled and enable your audio and video.  The Notary Public will guide you through the process, indicating where to apply your digital signature.  Once completed, your notarized documents will be available for immediate download.  When it comes to virtual notarization's there are no geographic limitations.  Regardless of where you are located RON can accommodate your needs.

Safe and Legal

Once the notarization has been completed, your notarized PDF is secured with a digital signature and tamper evident encryption, allowing others to verify its authenticity and confirm it has not been altered.  This process also validates the identity of the Notary Public.  All uploaded documents are stored securely, and any personal information provided for identity verification is transmitted only to our trusted verification partner using secure protocols.
